One year our worship team at Calvary Church’s St. Charles, Missouri, campus opened Christmas Eve services with an extended version of Gungor’s blues jam. You should have seen the congregation’s faces… right before they started movin’ and groovin’. It was all perfectly off the wall, but I picked it for the line-up because this is the Christmas story: Heaven coming down to the world. If you’ll spot me that a blues song can be a Christmas carol, I guess I’d say it remains one of my favorite carols of all time.
